Behind the Glamour: Real Stories of Event Planning Success
The Untold Journey from Event Concept to Celebration
Imagine standing amidst a flawlessly executed event where every detail, from the stage to the signage, the lighting and music, food, and flawless transportation for hundreds of people, creates an awe-inspiring atmosphere. A true “World Class Event.”
Now, take into account that over 800 athletes and their coaches and families are there, representing over 60 countries from throughout the world. It’s a World Championship event, taking place in a small town in South Dakota and to tell you it was a phenomenal and outstandingly difficult event to plan, would be an understatement. But to the outside world (literally the world) it went off flawlessly.
I had the fortune to be part of the planning team to pull off this event that lasted for 21 days in a row. It was actually three world events, back to back to back. And took place for the very first time in the United States.
What's not immediately apparent are the months of meticulous planning, countless meetings, and relentless problem-solving that paved the way for this magical event. Problems that could only happen during the height of a global pandemic, and with workforce shortages plaguing our every move and request for vendors.
Welcome to the world of event planning, where transforming visions into reality often requires pulling off the seemingly impossible.
